Bio:
Xu Heng is a specially appointed research fellow and doctoral supervisor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He graduated from Kuang Yaming Honors School, Nanjing University, with a bachelor’s in physics in 2003. He graduated from Brown University with a doctorate in physics in 2010. In the same year, he worked as a post-doc fellow at Baylor College of Medicine. He was selected into the 13th Batch in China and joined the faculty of the Institute of Natural Sciences and School of Physics and Astronomy, Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
His research interest lie in biophysics and quantitative biology, with a focus on developing quantitative measurement of single cell and single molecule scale and their theoretical models to understand the quantitative laws of biological processes. He won the Career Awards at the Scientific Interface from Burroughs Wellcome Foundation. His current research focuses on: (1) Quantitative measurement and theoretical study of gene regulatory dynamics, (2) Development and application of single cell and single molecule fluorescence microscopic measurement technology.
