Kuang Yaming Honors School at Nanjing University has recently signed an agreement with Natural Sciences Departments of Duke University through the school’s efforts and the university’s support as a way to meet the requirements of the program for training the talented in basic research, to broaden their horizon, and to improve their academic level and study interest.
According to the agreement, our school will select 10 to 12 students from different majors. The applicants for this program are required to have good academic performance, good mastery of English and a desire to continue their research in basic research. From 2014 on, the selected students will go to Duke University for a semester-long exchange program.
During the program, the students will be enrolled in the respective departments (departments of physics, mathematics, chemistry, biology, and computer science) at Duke University and carry out their study and research. At the end of the program, they will be granted credits for the courses they take at Duke University, and our school will recognize these credits.
To encourage more students to participate in this program and have the opportunity to study in one of the world's top universities, the school will also provide financial support for students enrolled in the program and will cover their tuition and part of their accommodation fees during the program.
At present, the students who applied for this program in 2014 have passed the school’s selection examination and the online interviews conducted by the specialists and professors of Duke. Eleven students (of physics, chemistry, biology and computer science majors) have successfully received conditional offers from Duke. They will get the opportunity to study at Duke University in the following semester after they meet the language requirement.
